About
Infatuated with anything that moves fast; passionate about art and design.
I joined the Marine Corps at age twenty-five, and found my true passion half-a-decade later, with no intentions of looking back. I’ve come to realize I’m somewhat of a late-bloomer in most things, even taking a decade to achieve an associates degree. My best efforts truly come forth when tackling challenges that test me on unfamiliar grounds.
Motorsports photography was something I fell into by happenstance, impulsively buying a ticket to a GT World Challenge race being held at Sebring Raceway several hours from my home. I heard you could go into the paddocks at these kinds of races, so I upgraded my camera and lens from a Canon Rebel T7i that I had bought years ago and used maybe three times, to a used Canon EOS RP (most certainly not the most suitable for motorsports) and a new Sigma 70-200 lens. Having no idea what I was doing, I spent three days shooting practice, qualifying, and the races of all classes running that weekend. It was my crash course, and I ended up taking just over 15,000 photos, maxing out the memory of the two SD cards I happened to buy the day prior. Googling the track layout, watching YouTube videos of past races and purchasing the Sebring episode from Jamey Price and Drew Gibson’s “Paddock Focus” series was all the prep work I needed to get hyped up. Subsequently, that weekend of racing was all I needed to get hooked on motorsports photography.
